its a fretless vintage g and l bass. Seeing as how its old and in good condition is it worth picking it up for value sake. Ive been interested in a fretless, but dont really need one. And im not big on this whole vintage thing, but i mean if this is worth alot more / will be worth alot in years to come it fits the bill.

Well I've heard that they're good quality instruments, and this looks like a nice one. If you've got the cash (not credit) then pick it up. If you don't take to it there is a large used market out there and you won't lose much coin.

Looks like a very fair price for a early and nice G&L. Not sure if the pup would hurt the value, but if it was done properly I wouldn't mind it.

These things make me think that this bass is not a good choice as a strict investment. In my limited experience most collectors tend to prefer unmodified instruments and they want them in better cosmetic shape.

Cosmetic shape isn't as important as keeping it stock for collectors. But it does come into play. Still, I doubt you'll ever lose money on it. I'd get it if I didn't already have a fretless.

EDIT: Or if I didn't skip over most of the replies and missed that it was already sold.
