I had a four string for years ,quite a few of them, and they just collected dust while I tried (horribly) to play guitar.
and just recently pict the bass back up and started jamming with a band they had 3 four strings for me to play ,a Squire p , a washburn, and a peavey they just didn't "feel" right or seem to fit my hands right.
So when I got the money I tried alot off basses at pawn shops (fav was a TOBIAS) , But ended up really liking the way a cheap cort 5 string "felt" but the day I went to buy it I stopt of at the music store and played a Fender v jazz bass (5 string) and an Ibanez SR405QM I ended up forgetting about the cort, and bought the new Ibanez never looked back my next bass will also be a 5 and the next one.......ect
What im getting at ( I ramble sorry ) is play as many basses as you can till you find "the one" . you'll know it when you do and buy that bass.
Intill then I would just save $ for that bass , and the 20 youl end up buying after that lol
