Should I reach out or wait?

yeah I realized that was starting to happen so I figured a resolution edit was appropriate.
I started this thread yesterday (Wednesday 3/11) and about six hours later I got an email from the guitar player welcoming me aboard. (I didn't reach out to them.)
For those interested; it's a R&B band. Vox, one guitar, keys, drums, percussion, sax, and trumpet... oh and bass! Singer used to sing on broadway. They cited their ideal bass player as being a cross between Duck Dunn and Oteil. I somehow got close enough to beat out a bunch of other players. The guitar player said everyone they auditioned were solid players. But I guess I was solid'er!
Band is super tight and everyone seemed really cool. I'm really excited to play with these people.

Gotta agree with the "go on about your business" replies. If they want you , they'll let you know; if they don't, who knows. I'm about 50/50 with experiences of never hearing back from them again in this situation - they only care about their needs and once they are met, they forget about anybody else involved.

If I really enjoyed the audition, I'd probably reach out to them next week: "Hey guys, did I miss an Email? Was wondering if you've made a decision. I'd like to work with you, but have other opportunities to explore if you're going a different direction". A week delay shouldn't feel pushy.

I get your frustration. There seem to be few opportunities in my market, so anything that's a reasonable fit feels like "it has to be the one". Good luck, but set your expectations low on communication.

Quick background: I gigged extensively in my 20's and stopped late 20's to spend some time in the military. Got back into it a bit in my 30's but once I was north of 40, life slowed down. Now I'm middle 40's and have been looking to get back in the saddle.

So I tried out for a local band recently that had several days of auditioning. The day I tried out, I was the 5th guy and when I left, there was another guy literally waiting at the door when I left. No clue how many other people tried out.

The day after my audition, the guitar player reached out and said they had narrowed it down to me and one other player. He asked if I had any questions or if there was anything I wanted them to know about me. So I replied with a bit about me (great work ethic, take music seriously, etc.) and I asked him about their gigging schedule. I also offered to come back for a second audition. He replied with some info and said they would consider a second audition.

Audition was on Sunday and email was Monday. I'm getting super antsy and am checking my email like a schoolgirl. I've considered reaching out to him again...just a "hey man, just checking in-I'm still super interested." Is this appropriate? Should I just wait? I don't want to bother him. But maybe that wouldn't be a bother? Just not sure how to navigate this.

Thoughts from those more experienced are greatly appreciated.

Glad you got the gig... Just FYI
in the next situation, wait... When you audition, forget about it after you leave.
You don't ever want a band to think they are you only option.

Just play it cool as you leave, thank them for the audition and go on and forget it til ypu hear something.

Congrats! Been a long time since I've auditioned. Of the two bands I work with today, one I've been working with since 1970. The other I networked into 5 years ago but was put on probation. Last month I asked the BL if I'm off probation, he said he'd let me know when I am lol!
