should I trade my bass?

MIA stands for Made In America. They're the most sought after Fenders around. I re-read the OP and you said the bass is 26 years old right? That's going to be in vintage territory soon. All the more reason to keep it imo.

+1 for keeping it to pass on to your kid someday.
 
I wouldn`t do it. I actually kinda regret trading my Marcus Miller, which I actually hated lol. It sounded horrible and was a freaking boat anchor as far as weight is concerned, but even so I still wish I had it around at times.
