Show me your 3TS w/ RW J Basses!

Looking for aesthetic inspiration for this three tone sunburst jazz bass w/ rosewood fretboard that I picked up.

I kinda like how it looks now w/ the aged white pickguard and black knobs & covers, but I'd like to see what others have done with theirs.

I'm not interested in a classic tort & black plastics, (there's so many already out there) but by all means you can try to convince me with the pics of yours.

There's no doubt that it looks great with tort, and these are two prime examples. Mine would only be a very poor approximation of those basses though. Definitely not shelling out for a spitfire. Talk about putting lipstick on a pig!

I no longer have my first bass that I got in 1971, but it looked just like the one, above. Mine was from the late '60s. Mine had both covers on the bass.

Come on, people, where are the other combos? No one has one with a mint guard, or cream pickup covers, or whatever else is out there?

Perhaps, because that is the best pickguard for 3TSB?

I just remembered that I have a photo of my former '03 AV '62 Jazz Bass. This is sporting a Pickguardian pickguard.

My jazz came with a mint pickguard, I changed it to black. The 3TSB on my bass is kind of dark, I think the black guard works well with that. Almost like a Tbird.

Correct!
VVT + series switch.

I love the construction features of the old American Deluxe series, but prefer passive electronics. The series switch was a way to do something fun with the fourth hole.

Shameless thread resurrection!

This Fender Classic '70s Jazz was completely stock when I purchased it used from the Guitar Center in Springfield, NJ.

It was left in that condition until I sold off the body. However, I still have the neck that's likely go to a Warmoth Jazz/MusicMan hybrid (...which seems fairly appropriate to me).

This bass started as a fretless SX SJB-62 five string Jazz bass with a white pickguard. Then I:
- Bought another fretted version of that bass, swapped necks, sold the fretless version, and kept the fretted version
- Added the string tree
- Replaced the original plastic nut with a bone nut
- Replaced the original tuners with Hipshot lightweight tuners
- Replaced the original strap buttons with Dunlop Dual Design strap locks
- Replaced the bridge with a Hipshot A style bridge
- Replaced the original pickups with Nordstrand NJS5 noise canceling Jazz pickups
- Added a 4-band Audere Z-mode preamp with a custom knob configuration
- Had a side jack cut in since I'm now using all four holes on the jack plate for the preamp
- Replaced the original white pickguard with a 4-ply tortoise shell pickguard

The body is clearly 3 mismatched pieces of wood and looks like crap. But it has a fantastic vintage Jazz bass tone and the preamp is very transparent so I have tons of EQ options but the pickup tone is always there.
