Bought My 'Ray in spring of 1979, and there are no mods to the bass. There is "Monk" pin stuck in the original case candy strap so long ago, it won't come out.
All my basses are unmodded. As I'm the manufacturer, I get to define when something is "done" - I might try a few different things during the building and tweaking phase, but nobody beside the manufacturer (me) has ever changed a part on my basses. Here's one of my basses.
Here are mine. All original, minus the strings. 1997 Fretless CS Cunetto, 2022 CS Mark Kendrick, 1997 CS Cunetto, 1991 CS 40th Anniversary and 1991 Jaco Pastorius signature.
So Anyway, no mods? That would be every one of mine, past and probably future.
I'll send something to my luthier guy to fix something that's broken, but I can't recall ever modding a working instrument.
But I did take the sticker off the Ric.
