show off your warmoths

Dude! I wanted to build a Warmoth with that exact pick-up configuration, but I didn't know anyone made the double-j pickups besides Fender. Is the output of the two pickups the same?

I'm not 100% satisfied with the Kent Armstrong JJ p/up.
soloed in parallel or series it gets very Stingray-like sounds, soloed in single coil mode it gets the Jazz bass on bridge p/up tone.

but
combined with the P p/up on full the PJ (JJ run in single-coil mode) is a little more scooped than I'd like- not quite as much midrange growl as the EMG Select PJ set in my Fender- but it's a great Jazz bass-style slap sound.

I usually run the bass with the P full on and the JJ in series mode on 75%.
(you can hear it in the "MTR" solo on the Talkbass Station, EQ'd flat with a bit of chorus added)

I'm considering getting a JJ p/up custom made by Kent Armstrong with ceramic bar polepieces and a higher output.

I know Rio Grande also make a double J humbucker.

Also, did you have to cut the spot for the pickups yourself, or did Warmoth do that?
I ordered it as a PJ routing, and then enlarged the rout towards the neck using a power drill and chisels.
(and filed the pickguard to accomodate the p/up too)
maybe Warmoth will do the routing, but I was unsure as I was ordering from the UK.

here's closeup of the pickups (the white thing between them is a piece of pickguard material I use as a thumbrest when playing over the JJ);

Hey tuf,

what size is that body? is it the dinky or regular jazz size?? if its dinky, how much smaller is it to a regular jazz???

It's a regular sized J body. I wanted to be sure I'd like the proportions...or was at least used to them. But the dinky/carved P body looks like it'd fit with a warmoth headstock.

I didn't realize TuffNutts had one.

Yup, sure do. I think the color on it's the same as your Wanna-B (but the quilt isn't as good). Cherry burst right?
