Show Stopped by Gunfire Outside

Was playing in a club in the late 70's and a fight broke out in the parking lot while we were breaking down. There were gunshots and people scattered. We hurried to get our gear in the van and got blocked by a girl beating the crap out of her boyfriend "for getting shot", pretty strange. Anyway we were in such a hurry to get the hell out of there that we ran over one of our guitar players 60's Gibson SG that we left leaning against the van and broke it into many pieces. The club owner called us the next week and wanted to book more dates. HA, we never returned the call and never looked back.

First of all, I'm glad your family is OK to the OP. :)

I'm really saddened by what NOLA has become, and it was happening even before Katrina, unfortunately.

I had a house gig at the 544 Club, corner of Bourbon & Toulouse, back in the late 90's for just over a year. We ALWAYS walked in pairs back to the parking lot we used, because there were muggers all over the place. Part of the reason I quit the gig (that and being completely underpaid).

I miss the area, but don't ever see myself moving back...
