Just Thumpin', what's the verdict on your new MB2?
WOW, I cannot believe that I have not posted anything yet. Actually I have been playing so much lately that I just spaced. In a word, the MB-2 is AWESOME.
Forget the way it looks...although I like my basses to look great, it is all about how they sound and play and this little bass just sings. I am still getting used to the action -- which is much higher than I typically play, but according to Rob is set where it is to optimize the way the bass sounds.
I am running it through a Walter Woods Ultra High Power (Blue Light) and an Epifani UL410 II Cab. The first evening I played it, my wife came running down into the basement glaring at first and when I asked her what was wrong, she said, "Thank God, I though you had completely lost it and bought an upright."
To a true acoustic player (I am not), I am sure the MB-2 does not even come close, but for me and the settings in which I play, there is just so much wood and air that comes through in the sound of this bass that it is just not to be believed.
I have broken out the the old standards and am happily running through them and loving the vibe this bass adds to playing them.
I really cannot say anything but positive things about this bass, Rob's craftsmanship and the whole experience. No, it is not going to make me set aside my Foderas, but it certainly adds a whole new set of sounds to my toolbox that nothing else I am familiar with comes close to matching!
