Just got the Mark Hoppus Signature in the mail today. Not the biggest fan of the guy but I did grew up during the era of pop-punk and listened to them a good bit. The main drawing point for me was that awesome transparent color of the bass and it's a slight alteration to my Matt Freeman (who's work I do love) Precision.

So far, so good. Super high action that was quickly resolved. Bit boomier than the Freeman, which is to be expected with the pickups. Nice highs as well, actually.

I work exclusively with Donovan Bankhead at fretspot.com. Why? because he is fair and honest, a family man, and will work a deal and he's not too big to give you personal attention. Some Brutes are being sent to the dealers now. The rest will hit in January.

This is my actual bass. It went on tour before I received it.

This just makes me scream. I had almost the same Aria bass that was (I believe) reason for my not so great playing abilities. I hated that bass so much. I could not practice on it. Uneven strings whatever you do, Flat, blatant sound and overall horror guitar. I am sorry. But, I had a very bad time with it back in days... I was even thinking to get one these days and try to go back in time and apply my long setup experience to try to make it work well. But, I gave up. You cannot do a damn thing to it. Wood and construction is great. But, entire electronics is crap.

Your playing abilities do not depend on the
quality of some old bass. Sorry, but you
need a better excuse than that. Lots of us
started on crummy basses.

Also, this is not an Aria bass. Mine is a super
sweet playing bass that sounds great.

But, I gave up. You cannot do a damn thing to it. Wood and construction is great. But, entire electronics is crap.

The electronics are the easiest thing to fix
or entirely replace. You should have been
able to fix that easily.

The electronics on my bass sounds great.
I fail to see any connection.

Sorry, but I can't seem to come up with
any other conclusion,

It was 30 years ago.... I hated that thing so much. Sorry, just 2c.

Thanks Pet Sounds for coming to my rescue.

It's OK though, I just let it slide. Besides, some
one who admittedly can't play bass wouldn't
know that a good playing Electra Long Necker
Bass is a very nice thing to own.

He fails to realize how pleasing it is to play one
of these sweet old bases. That's his loss, not
mine,

Yes that's right. The maker was not a bass player 3
years ago when he built the bass. There were problems
associated with this.

The bass only had one volume control. I added another
one so each pup has a volume,

The story goes on. I had to turn the tuning machines
around because they were on backwards,

The neck bent up at the body and caused a woop-tee-doo,

I took the frets off,

and ground the neck down until it was strait. I ground so
much 3 fretboard markers came out,

I ground so much that I could not re-cut the fret grooves.
That's when I decided to go fretless,

The fretboard was totally flat. (no radius) I put about a
12 inch radius on it.

That's all I can remember right now. It seems like I'm
forgetting something, but I cant remember what.

I can only surmise that the maker didn't want to charge
much because of these problems.
