Just received this one the other day. I've been wanting a classic Sunburst w/ maple board badly and had to have this one when it came up on Ebay b/c it's a 1992 w/ mutes in perfect shape! I don't use the mutes but really like that original look and these basses w/ the old style bridge are getting harder to find.

Is there a way you can "turn on" the mutes and disable them without major surgery? Does it mess with the intonation when they're on?

BTW, I sent you a PM about the essex...
