Just picked this up, 1981 Electra X630S. A nice chunk of ash with some legit road wear:

Nice! Wonder if they were still using lacquer then - it looks like a thin-coat nitro finish judging by the wear.

It looks like it, it's certainly thin with minimal grain fill. Somebody rubbed some red paint or stain on it and it got down into the grain in some places. Trying to clean that up is my next task, and fortunately it seems to come off easily with alcohol.

The Verythins are not prior to the violin bass, but came after. This can be seen in the actual name. The violin bass is actually called the 500/1 bass, while I believe the Verythins are called the 500/5.
