Jolana Diamant bas (really only with one "s"). Made in Czechoslovakia 1985. Original owner remove thick black poly finish. When I bought in 15 years ago, bassguitar was in terrible condition. Missing frets, broken tunning mashines and wirring. I bought it because I love LP style basses and luthier made repair to playeble condition. Its nothing for collector because here are many unoriginal parts, but I love this bassguitar.

There's also a pretty rare Jolana Futurama guitar. If it was a bass....
That has to be one of the coolest pickup selector switches I've ever seen on the black one.

Just picked this Fender Jazz bass deluxe up off FB marketplace local for $300. Plays & sounds great! A little bit of wear, it’ll be great to distress further!

Yah - that makes sense. Not great for a rock-solid body/string-stop grounding... but in some ways not so different than a Dano bridge which rests on the two top height adjustment screws and is only physically attached by the one lower screw. Thanks for your clarification.

in asia this is quite common due to high heat and humidity, i also sent back a couple of split neck plates for replacement on both of my musicmans for the same reason ...a bit annoying as the serial numbers that came back were different.

The metal neck plate was split?
..yes ...split on two individual instruments ...what happened was the plates were tightened in bone dry usa and the high humidity in the philippines ..sometimes 90% makes the wood swell and obvious hairline cracks start to emanate outwards from the screw holes. i had to post them to musicman and they posted back replacements no quibble with new serial numbers.

So it only happens on EBMM neck plates? If so that narrows it down to the metal used to make their neck-plates being the issue.
It sounds like EBMM is using cast/potted metal (brittle) for their neck plates. Sheet steel won't do that. It's too malleable. Either that or the metal they're using has been inadvertently work hardened.

I wonder if that can be welded by a good welder on the bottom and then ground flat and then rechromed...all this to save the serial number. I checked my Music Man Sterlings and I don't think these will crack. They look to be made of different metal.

I'd just replace it - not worth repairing. Store the original in the case for providence sake.
