Do you know what year? With the "Contour Body" decal where it's at I'll guess '65. Is it Fiesta red? It looks to have a white primer base. And the wear near the neck is something I've not seen before. Someone with tough nails playing over the neck-butt for an upright sound...
It was listed as a 1964 in CAR, silver undercoat but the decal would indicate otherwise. Not sure if there were any examples of a 64 with the split decal. She is a beauty either way.

I doubt it is a '64. As you noted, the 'Contour' decal didn't move until maybe (a few) early '65. And I almost guessed CAR over silver. On my screen the silver looked white and the red didn't look translucent. (it looked opaque) so I incorrectly guessed Fiesta red over white.

The listing did show photos of the pot codes dating to 64, but the split logo clinches the later 65 date for me.

CAR is one of those squirrely colors that can look like many things. Especially with the changes in base coat colors.

Possibly a '64 body (or just pots) w/'65 neck... anything's possible as that was the peak of guitar sales in the '60s.
