I don't know why exactly, but I dig that.
The bridge is identical to a bridge I have on an old 70s MIJ "Lotus" P copy.

My Rickenbacker has all kinds of hairline checking that makes wonderful patterns on the finish. Unfortunately, I doubt I could capture it in a photo (I'd need a good macro lens).

Missed watching this a day late... but it's pretty funny and relative to my thread here. CMI has done some pretty funny vids over the years, my favorite being one about a limited edition "Joker" guitar previewed by "Batman". Maybe they have it in an archive...

I feel your loss - my '63 T-bird was stollen from me in the late 70's. I still wonder if I'll ever see it turn up somewhere. I was lucky enough at the time to replace it shortly after with a '64 (for a whopping $750 in 1978!) and still have it. I used to have dreams (nightmares I guess) for years after of losing that one in one way or another.

With permission of it's owner (tb member bassyboyg) as respectful homage, I'm posting a few pics of his '66 Fender bass which as you can see was in their house fire last January. Luckily no one was injured, but unfortunately 2 of the family cats perished (rip). He owned/played this bass for 45 yrs. It's hard to imagine how many memories are stored in this charred remnant, how many songs were played on it, how many people heard it over those years. Also now stored are the tragic memories of that day - they are provocatively beautiful pictures. Destroyed for further use - transformed into a powerful reminder that nothing is forever and that life is sacred. Compared to the wear of much use we've seen over 39 pages, this is the distressing of circumstances beyond control. Distressing that has rendered a wonderful instrument into a carbon fossil. Think about your go-to bass, the bass you've played for years and next time you play it, play it like it will be the last time. It's the only way I could imagine how hard it would be losing such a bass like this. I've entered these images on this thread to celebrate life, playing bass/music and as reminder of our our humbling fragility.

Thanks Mark - reading that is reaffirming considering how contentious the subject of distressed instruments can be sometimes here on tb. Beauty exists on many diverse levels in the world and offers visual riches for all with open eyes to appreciate.

yes but I have new basses that I absolutely love here they are, I know it was mentioned not to post any roadworns
but thats what I got as my jazz bass and its just a great bass its like a old friend already....also loving my 64' Teisco baritone a gift from the guys at cigar box nation...

The 'not posting Road-Worn Fenders' was more about "once you've seen one, etc…" and in this case posting yours is totally welcomed! I'm glad to see you've got some fine new instruments to play - I was going to mention in my preface to posting your pics that an instrument is only a vehicle for expression - and the gift of music is in your heart and soul, ears and fingers. Enjoy this next chapter in your musical life story!
