Thanks! It was gigged heavily for about the first ten years of it's life, but it just sat in the jamroom for the last 20 years with the original cover on it.
I just discovered its secrets for awesome bass tone a few months ago, and only had the chance to take it out a few times since then. Feels good bringing an old amp out of retirement though!

The new 2x15 cab sounds great. Very big and full down low, great midrange presence without any noticeable honk (I typically EQ with a decent amount of low-mids/mids for presence in a band mix), and solid top end, but not sizzly at all. The idea behind this build was to have an "updated oldschool" sounding cab to match the Fender Studio amp. It's working very well so far. Will gig it next weekend for the first time.

I have tried the Studio Bass amp with a Berg CN212, and it just kills with that cab, but the 26.5" wide Fender looks kind of funny on top of the 18" Berg, so I have mostly used the Berg on its side with this head which I know is sub-optimal.

I also have used with Studio Bass with an Ampeg 115HE cab, which sounded ok, but nothing particularly great.

Ha, I hear ya! That's the only down side to a "classic" width amp.

My Fender Super Twin (essentially the same amp as the Studio Bass) matches up nicley with a full-sized 215, 610, or 810, but almost anything else is too narrow. :spit:

I'm glad to hear it sounds good with 12's, though. I've been interested in trying some out.

nice looking rig you got there. I did look at that Fender 2x15 very closely before I went with LDS. In the end I really wanted the offset cab, and wanted it to match the silverface look of the Studio Bass head.

the Fender Studio Bass sounded great with the Berg CN212. Well worth checking out.

Normally I would agree with you but in my particular case, Jonathan (tber JGR) is the designer and builder of my Pre. He wouldn't have recommended it without ensuring that it was safely compatible. He should at least be able to tell us the exact LV of the Pre which may at least offer some help.

I have had zero problems whatsoever in a multitude if gig environments. That said, I have never come close to really pushing the dcm. At 3000 watts, it's not like I'm hurting for volume. I'll get Jonathan to at least stop by and tell us what he knows as well as what he doesn't.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean preamp output voltage... I meant the AC power from the wall outlet. Some Carvin amps (BX500 in particular) tend to shut off if the AC power voltage drops below what the amp wants to see. Amp stays protected, but the sound stops...

Your second sentence here comes closer to what I was looking for -- you've plugged it into a lot of different power sources and haven't had any problems.

In any event, I would like to hear what Jonathan has to say.
