It's about 8:20 a.m. and I just took this picture...
We got this little guy in February, after our last one succumbed to his long-term health issues last October. 
Like Niko, he's also a rescue.
This is Jack. A dapple Dachshund (the only dogs I've ever had) that's a very rare light red/brown color. He's got one normal eye and one white/blue eye. Rare, but it happens sometimes with dapples. He's about eight, and the literal definition of rescue. He was clearly abused in a past life. He's fearful, and very skittish. He also nervous-pees when scared. It's incredible anyone would abuse this dog. He's docile, friendly, well-behaved, and super loving. He's gotten much better since we got him, but he's still traumatized.
People suck.

Thank you! I could never buy an animal from a store, etc., knowing how many are in need of rescue. One walk through a shelter and it's hard to feel any other way.
Plus, if you favor a specific breed, there's probably a rescue for them, so you can still get what you want, and save an animal. It's a win/win/win for you, the shelter, and the fur baby.

Agreed, I've got 4 fur babies, all are rescues, in one way or another. You know Simon & Sarah from your visit to GSO, they were straight-up rescues from an emergency vet (brought a 16 year old dog in to put to sleep, they put those two as puppies up on the counter as I was paying - evil, but in a good way
). Then there's my "big cat" Oxford (30 lb tuxedo cat) was was "kinda rescued" from a situation that wasn't necessarily that bad for him, but he was a bad fit. He's not a typical cat, he needs a LOT of attention to be happy, and didn't get it. My 4th rescue, another cat, could be called a rescue, even though she was purchased from a breeder originally (I think you met her as well, Claire, tubby white cat). That cat was a "bad fit" for my ex and her first cat, so when we split, she went with me.

She's a Greyhound, retired rescued track dog from Alabama (I said that with an accent).
This is a thread I needed for this boring day in work...
Here we have Maude the 6yr old black Pug. She's my girlfriend's dog that I have adopted since they both moved in a year ago. I'm not much of a snuggler but this gal makes it difficult!
And this is my boy, Blue. Raised him like my own kid but couldn't take him with me when I moved out. This is from last October while I was doing bass tracks for our demo. He's not the best sound engineer, but he's my best bud. Blue's getting old and his legs are getting weak but despite his 14 years he can still act like a big pup when he wants to. He can do basic math and numerous tricks for unlimited rubs. He's too old and settled with my parents for me to take him to my place but he's coming next week for a week and I'm stoked!

Posted this in the Basses forum but thought i'd share here too. Vet thinks he may have a mini-stroke on Friday, but didn't stop him rocking out some open root notes.
Poor baby and hope he makes a full recovery. He looks like a gentle good dog.

Lovely lookin' lad.. Hope he's out-weighing the odds..
Thanks Stewie. He's got as good a nature as they come. He's been doing well, bit wobbly but been champing at the bit to get outside for short walks and lapping up the sunshine. Looking forward to having him at the weekend for the week!
