Due to long shifts overnight for our daughter and son in law they have both been at work for 12+ hours. She messaged me and asked if I could stop and get Mya some time outside on my way to work. I followed "mama's" rules and put her parka on since it's 10 below zero here right now.

She has snow goggles and puppy boots too but I couldn't find them.
We just stayed out long enough for her to do her business and then we went back in for a little playtime and treats before I had to leave.

I bought several different kinds of booties for my 3 little guys when I lived in Flagstaff at 7,000 feet. They never complained when I put their sweaters on, but not one of the three wanted anything to do with booties. With fresh snow, they managed sort of OK, but after the streets were plowed, they had a slick ice surface (I wore spikes). They all suffered from freezing paws and my Italien Greyhound/Chihuahua cross refused to do his business, so I had to take the other two back in and go back out with him. I felt so sorry for him, but his English wasn't good enough to understand my explanation that booties would be really helpful. Oh, well. No snow now. Just lots of rain. She will wear the boots she has when available. She was so excited to get out this AM it was all I could do to get the parka on. And I didn't want to ramsack their house looking for the boots.
I do not miss the snow, 40 years in western New York state was enough.
I make a point of not complaining about the heat in the summer here knowing that I will not have to deal with real winter stuff.
Yep, never really liked the snow that much when visiting the local mountains here in SoCal. That said, the forecast here for Christmas day is 75 degrees which suites me well.
Norm needs his booties otherwise the snow clumps up in his paws, then he licks/chews on it making it worse.

Unlike most of the rest of the country. The massive winter storm in the U.S. and all of the plane, train and bus cancellations are getting a lot of press here.
Our greyhound wouldn't wear anything on his feet either. In fact, he loved running through snow, particularly if it was powder. My guess is that it must be similar to the soft dirt of the track.
We got about 6 inches overnight here in Central WI. Neighbor and I were out at 5 am clearing the neighborhood. He has a nice Mahindra tractor with a 56" blower on the front, I shovel sidewalks and away from the front of garage/house. We hit 6 driveways in an hour. Nice.

I have to admit it wasn't my idea, mornings are not my best time of day. But he started helping me first and it just kind of grew from there. We all help each other out with different things so it's a win-win.

I went to high school in Janesville. I had access to Jeep with a 6' Western plow. When there was snow forecast, I'd get up at 4am to see if there was any money to be made that morning. $10 for a small driveway. $20 for a large driveway. Negotiated rates for business parking lots. $20 to haul someone out of a ditch. If they insisted that I should help them for free, I drove off, leaving them to their bad attitudes. I wasn't out there for fun.
