My older dog (Sadie a few posts previous) runs to the dryer when it stops and follows at my feet when I take the laundry to fold. I stick a corner of the dryer sheet through a hole in the basket and she pulls it out and rolls around on it and then chews it to shreds. Been playing that game for years.

funny how they groove on certain scents. sophie would follow the wife out of the shower until she was given the towel from her hair, which she would drag back to her bed, and roll on while making grunting noises. then she would roll herself up in it and nap

When dad brings home a new toy and the puppies tire themselves out “playing” with it.

so far, with the dogs i have now, no rope toy has lasted longer than 17 minutes

Abandoned in a dumpster alongside trash bags and an old watermelon, a tiny black and tan puppy sat patiently on his dog bed. He seemed to blend in, barely able to poke his head above the garbage. Luckily, a Good Samaritan spotted him and reported him to environmental officers in Spartanburg, South Carolina, who rushed to the scene.

Soon after, the Greenville Humane Society phone started ringing. “We got a call asking if we would be willing to take him,” Rachel Delport, Greenville Humane Society chief executive officer, told The Dodo. “And of course, we said yes.” Delport was disappointed that someone could leave a helpless animal alone in the trash. “It’s sad to see people who don’t take the necessary steps to treat animals the way they need to be treated,” she said.

The puppy, later named Coleman, was thrilled to be safe with people who cared about him. His personality began to shine — he became much more vocal, loving any attention he could get. “Once he got here, he was very ready for some cuddles,” Delport said. “He got lots of toys and attention.” The humane society ensured Coleman had all the tools necessary to make him a great candidate for adoption, and even set up a photo shoot for him.

Soon enough, Coleman was ready to find a family who would love him forever, and Delport is confident he’ll find one soon. “There’s been a lot of interest, a lot of people calling asking how he’s doing,” Delport said. “The community is rooting for him and wants the best for him.”

Sadie along with her 4 siblings were left in a box on a highway. They ended up at a shelter which is not a “no-kill” and we took the family to look for a dog to adopt that we guessed would bond with the kids. One of them walked out front of the rest of the puppies and barked and wagged. That was Sadie and she’s been with us 16 years. I know we all have ideas but I swear dogs know when they’re rescued. She’s fiercely loyal and holds eye contact like she’s listening. My other dog is really smart but he doesn’t do that.
