Unhappy that the rest of the family isn’t home.
While I think those pictures are awfully cute, I sure wish that breeders would stop (or at least steer away from) producing dogs with physical traits that are so, so far from anything useful/practical to a dog in their lives.
The Bassett hound's long ears were there for a reason...to a point, but the way they are now is just no effin good, and their legs are all wrong now too (owners have to build stairs so the dog can get up into a bed).
All the brachycephalic faced dogs have breathing difficulties every day of their lives, and the huge lips on that dog are not good for eating and hygiene.
A modern dachshund's length causes intervertebral disc disease problems so they are pretty fragile dogs now.
English Bulldogs can't even birth puppies properly because of their structure, and they are constantly choking for air, along with several other problems.
Huge Great Danes live for six years.
German Shepherd dogs have hind legs/hips that don't work very well anymore.
Some of the American Bully dogs have a skeleton that is bent way out of any practical proportion and they are way too heavy for their size.
Italian Greyhounds are so fine boned that they can fairly easily fracture a leg.
Today's St. Bernard structure has at least a half dozen problems that make them unable to work and they generally suffer their whole short lives.
The list goes on and on like that.
Thankfully a bunch of the working breeds are still structured in a way that is healthy and practical for the owner and the dog.
I will now climb down off my soapbox and shut the heck up.

I totally agree. Breeding dogs (at their expense) to satisfy our wants and what WE thing they should look like. Same thing with dressing dogs up, so humans can get a laugh. If we REALLY love dogs, why can't we accept them as nature intended ?

In my case, that means accepting that my dogs are the laziest puppies on earth.
This is Charlie… we got him from a rescue about two months ago. All we know is that his mom came to Colorado from a reservation in MT. We lost our other dog, Yogi back in November of 2021 and felt it was time.

Another res rescue! Happy for you AND Charlie! So, Charlie was born at the Colorado rescue and never had to fend for himself in the wild?
My 8 year old Chihuahua came from the Navajo Nation up around Tuba City. He spent his first 18 months as a stray. Begging for a handout is his specialty, even today when he's very well fed and cared for. He will go up to anybody and let them pet him. Not a typical Chihuahua trait.
