Hey @Stewie26 , I just got a BFR and checkout in a DA40 in Healdsburg. Nice airplane but I wouldn’t take my dogs in an airplane - especially a rental! And the castering nosewheel is taking a little getting used to.

Beautiful dog. Looks super soft and regal. Loving that harness. What brand is it? Looks like it would fit in at the renfest. Looks like leather armor.
Hi Bass Pilot. Lucky Dog has near 1000 hours logged in the backseat. We have never had an issue and he enjoys traveling with us. That said, if you are renting planes, the FBO/flight school may not allow dogs in their planes. I prefer the castering nose wheel as you can make very sharp turns, including 180's if needed, when on the taxi ways. It is something that you will get use to after more hours spent in the cockpit. The DA 40 handles like a sports car with its direct push-pull rods that connects to the control surfaces, instead of cables and pulleys, and I have found it the most fun aircraft to fly including the out the window visibility which feels more like a fighter jet. Buddy Holly, a petit basset griffon Vendéen named for the late rock ‘n’ roll legend won won best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show Tuesday night, a first for his French rabbit-hunting breed.
“I never thought a PBGV would do this,” handler and co-owner Janice Hayes said. “Buddy Holly is the epitome of a show dog.”
His competitors included Rummie, a Pekingese that aimed to bring home the third trophy in 11 years for his small-but-regal breed. Winston the French bulldog was gunning for the title after coming oh-so-close last year.
An Australian shepherd named Ribbon, an English setter called Cider, a giant schnauzer named Monty and an American Staffordshire terrier called Trouble also were in the pack of contenders.
