Shure's new KSM8 - Changing the industry yet again!

Shure came out with a brand new Dual Diaphragm Dynamic microphone which was announced at NAMM. Below is an awesome video explaining the technology involved with this new mic and how it came to be, enjoy!

Picked one up - believe the hype. Best dynamic mic I've used. Great tone and the decreased proximity effect really helps for when you are playing and singing at the same time and may not have as much fine control over your distance to the mic.
They are a bit spendy, but I think it was worth it. My wife noticed the difference immediately during a rehearsal. Used it at the last two shows and it really sounded great.

For s(h)ure...$499 US retail is not to be taken lightly. Cost aside, great engineering theory behind this, and I'm hoping it catches on in a big way so we can realize some market force cost savings.

Just for some historical comparative cost perspective, according to this calculator (Historical Currency Conversions), 40 years ago in 1976, a $100 microphone in 2016 dollars is the equivalent of just over $400. Taken in this context, $499 doesn't sound unrealistic, although we've been very spoiled that the cost of an SM57/SM58 hasn't really changed much over the years.

Interested to hear more critical reviews of this mic.
