Signal Splitter/Recombiner?

Hey all. I'm looking for something for a guitarist in one of the band I work with. He's constantly trying compressors and loving them at bedroom levels but then is disappointed when he uses them at full volume in a live situation. He's by no means a gear head... He's the type that likes what he likes (which is the same gear he bought in the 90's and has been using ever since) and won't even buy a backup until his current stuff dies.

I figured I'd sneak a splitter into his rig, so that he would be able to run his effected signal alongside the uneffected one. I think that would solve his problem, plus if he didn't like it, I could surely use it in my rig.

So basically, I'm looking for something that would be 2-in/2-out but would sum to mono on either side if there's only one jack plugged in. It should have a quality buffer (the one in his ancient boss ME-50 is terrible), and doesn't need blend or anything like that. Do any of you know of such a device?

The blend is super useful for balancing the clean signal against the FX leg(s). Lots of mono solutions. For stereo, you might have a look at the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. (Thomann US still seems to have some in stock.)

Thanks.

His ME-50 has it's own volume, so there's no need to balance the levels thru the splitter.
I have an X-Blender though it's not the stereo one. I'm looking for something (preferrably) passive and definitely something without knobs because then he'll start asking all kinds of questions and getting weird about it. lol

Why not just get a compressor with a blend built into it?

What is his disappointment with them live? Does he simply not like compression in a live context?

It kinda sounds like he's not going to be open about trying new things when you're trying to sneak things into his rig. Why bother if that's the case? Just let him play what he wants.
