Signature Basses?

You also have a multi-million dollar lawsuit.

Well hold on now, how many Gibson and Fender copies are floating around out there with varying degrees of quality? I mean, has Fender hit Sadowsky with a lawsuit for what is clearly a Jazz bass copy that's 20 times better than what they make? I really think Gibson can pull it off with a little clever redesign of the headstock. However I agree with some others that Lakland would do a better job of it!

Sorry, I thought you were talking about tweaking the headstock to make it look like Fender. Yes, the body can be the exact same but the headstock MUST be different or else you'll get a lawsuit.

Right! Something that isn't identical to a Fender headstock but somewhat similar in appearance to suggest The Ox's Frankenstein bass. You know, as cool looking as that thing was, I wonder how well balanced it actually was? A conventional T-bird is cumbersome enough, I wonder if the P neck made it more user friendly (in terms of balance and weight) or even worse!

I think one of the best basses Fender makes is a signature bass.....the Roscoe Beck V. I love mine, but I didn't buy it because of Roscoe Beck, I bought because when I played it in the store...it ruled :bassist:

I have a great idea for a signature bass. Will Lee has been one of the hardest working bassists in the business for years. I've always loved glimpses of his custom Sadowsky basses with the middle pickup cover just before Late Night with David Letterman goes to commercial. Wouldn't be cool if Sadowsky's kick-butt Japanese Metro line made a signature Sadowsky Will Lee model with signature pickup cover at a price that mere mortals can afford?

I think if Mike Dirnt and Mark Hoppus can have Fender sigs, so should Tim C. from Rage. Jazz Bass with mapleboard P-Bass neck, Gotoh 201 bridge, and custom-shop 60's pups.

i'm pretty damn sure Tim uses custom shop 70's he had especially made for his tone, after his first 70's bass got smashed to bits at a Rage show. i read it a while back in Bass Guitar. i also wouldn't mind if Fender put that double neck j bass he had custom shopped on the market though, i'd snatch one up the second i got the money. :D
