for those that have played this, and for an audition, is the first d played as an harmonic on the d string or as written on a g string please?

I see no sign to shift up the neck, so a 4 on the g string, 2 g and 1f# on the d

Thanks Nathan..yes, you are correct but see link below, at 2:20. I've seen others do same, so just curious as to what is the standard...

I'm not sure what the original by simandl showed fingering wise, if anything, but the idea behind the etudes is to use what you've learned from the simandl book, and apply those ideas in whatever way works best for you. My judgement would be that the "standard" is not throwing the hand up to catch the D harmonic
