Double Bass Simandl Etudes

Yeah I remember getting that book after bowing for about a year or so and I wasn't really prepared for it. For one thing, each study is quite long and I wasn't accustomed to bowing for that long so my hand would tire out. Subsequently tuning, tone, self-confidence etc. went down the drain.

Regardless they're decent studies and a lot more interesting than the ones in his method books. Although the minor ones towards the end of the book are nice.

Good luck.

OK, I just ordered these. I am working only occassionally with a teacher for reasons I've explained elsewhere, but I had my third lesson since starting in late October just yesterday, and my teacher said, "All you need is to keep playing." She gave me a few very useful tips and pointers, and I will be back at it on my own, probably for another month or so.

That these come with a recorded accompaniment will make my wife happy since I won't have to pester her to play for me. :)

Thank you, everyone, for your replies.
