Iam studying with classic Czech and German methods and they have the same system. Fingerboard begins with half position(or also called the usual position) which contains the first 3 half steps. So:
Half pos.
E-F,F#,G
A-Bb,B,C
D-D#,E,F
G- G#,A,Bb
Then it continues with the first position, so it can be confusing because the first pos. is going after the half position which IS first when talking consecutively. In the first position, the C# note can be voiced easily on the A string as it goes : B,C,C#.
So: Half position, then first position.
