Why do people get so uptight, when you just post a link to a page in BassPlayer - I just thought it was a more economical way of "illustrating" what I meant, rather than typing all that out again.

In future I shan't be helpful and try to answer any questions that come up. I'lll just stick to the sarcastic remarks.

Uptight about a link to BP? No Bruce, indifferent perhaps but not "uptight". Not sure where that came from. I'm also not sure why your way has to take precedence being more efficient or economical or better through wider use than my way? This is music my friend, efficient, economical or more widely used don't always facilitate getting out what's in your heart. Or is that not important to you? You're in the church Bruce but you're making the mistake of worshiping the place rather than what fills that place with life.

I think the whole point of forums like this is to try to be objective - otherwise there is no chance of sensible discussion. I think that the articles in BassPlayer on technique are well-researched and attempt to give an objective view of why you should follow a method. That doesn't of course mean you have to do that, but at least it's a starting point for some people and can be of value.

To just say that all technique is subjective and up to the player may well be what you believe, but it's not very helpful to anyone else. If we all went along with this, there would be no music teachers and all previous knowledge would be lost. I think that we can also help others on this forum, if we try to stay objective, rather than subjective.

And while you may not be looking for tips - the questions on this forum tend to indicate that a lot of people are!

I sometime's use two because I play really hard fast rock and my fingers get tired after altrinating between. That way I can sort of rest my fingers a bit but still keep the volume up.
