SIMPLE A/B BOX DOESN'T WORK

Got an ART CoolSWITCH A/B-Y Box from GC to connect two basses to same amp.

Plugged each bass into the "input" jacks, then a line out of one of the output jacks to my head, then tried all combinations of the switches and I always get EITHER BOTH basses or NO signal.

The IDEA is if you choose say bass A (and the A led is lit up), then there's NO signal from bass B, right?

Have a gig tonight, no time to run to Guitar Center.

And yes I'm sure I DON'T have it connected wrong. (Actually, I tried connecting it "backwards" anyway, just in case it's wired that way inside by mistake...same result...)

You really just need an A/B box, not A/B Y, but that's for another day. This unit is made to run one instrument to two amps. I'm guessing it can work like you want, but you need to wire it "backwards": connect one bass to Output A, the second bass to Output B, then run Input to your amp.

1. Try clicking the Y switch. It sounds like you have it in Y mode instead of A/B mode.
If that doesn't work:
2. Which jack do you have connected to your amp: Input or Thru?

Yup, that was it. Thanks very much. You plug in your basses to the "outputs" and then your amp line out plugs into an "input," and voila! (Not how the instructions say it...) Saw this in time for the gig, worked fine.
