Simple Basslines that are incredibly important

There are a lot of songs with simple bass lines.

Pretty much anything that Adam Clayton plays is very simple yet extremely important to the songs.

Basslines in songs by Creedence, AC/DC and many others come to mind, but when I think of a very smple bassline that makes the song, I think of

"Stand By Me" by Ben E. King

You're confusing simple with easy.

Golf is simple - hit the ball; put it in the cup. But it isn't easy.
Boxing is simple - punch your opponent without getting punched. But it isn't easy.

There are many songs that are identified only by the simple bass line that anchors it.
Sunshine of Your Love - Cream
Machine Gun - Band of Gypsys
Song For My Father - Horace Silver ( think Rikki Don't Lose that Number)
Low Rider - War
Cisco Kid - War
Satisfaction - Stones
Brick House - Commodores.
Spoon Full - Willie Dixon. The bass line does not have to be complicated to be powerful.
