I switched out the stock strings for some mmiller Dunlop, ever since I now have buzz on the first couple frets on the d string and all fret after the 12th fret on the A string. If anyone could give any advice it would be greatly appreciated. I've tried adjusting the action a bit to no avail. I've never really messed with the truss ever on any of my basses.thank you all. I have a v7 ash 5

Hi everyone. Just received my Sire V7 5-string with an ash body and a maple neck. I love it but feel like the end towards the headstock is lacking or has less varnish than the rest of it. Not a huge deal just noticeable to the touch. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it something to worry about?

The reason why this occurred is the tension on the MM strings are less than the D'Addarios. And the neck pulled a bit straighter (normal occurrence). The first thing I would do is raise the bridge saddles a little.

If the action is too high then it's a truss rod turn. If your not comfortable with doing it I would bring it to someone.

I received my V7 5 - Black this afternoon.

Again, a great bass! The B string is very good (as many have pointed out). Weight is a little lighter than my V7 4.
Had to lower the saddles a little, but the intonation was spot on!

To me the neck wasn't chunky. I would say thickness it's like the Squire VM 5's.
Big difference is the fretboard radius, which I believe makes it a longer stretch (attributing to the "thickness").

It's quite comfortable actually

I love my 5er. I haven't played anything else since I got it. Didn't take long to get comfortable with it.

I wonder if they just didn't finish buffing it down to a gloss just in that area? Kind of hard to tell by the pic. Hmmm...

Guys I own a MM V7 5 strings and I'm quite happy with it, but I tried a Sandberg California II TT5 at Mansons (Exeter, UK), bird's eye maple + mahogany and I have to admit that I loved it, it is way lighter and the tone was a killer. I would consider them as worthy contenders although the Sandberg is twice the price. Thoughts? Experiences? Cheers guys!

I love my 5er. I haven't played anything else since I got it. Didn't take long to get comfortable with it.

That was exactly my experience with mine which is a great plus for me. Considering that this was a dice roll and I ordered my V7 blindfolded specifically to find out if it delivers on its hype, it exceeded my expectations.......I know TBers get upset when "Get a Sire" shows up in many threads but its a matter of taking the plunge to get one over being a Sire Kool-Aid drinker

I hear great things about Sandbergs, but I can't justify the cost - why I got 2 Sire V7s.

I know, the price difference might not make it up for the sound difference, which is a bit more compelling in the Sandberg if you ask me, but I don't know, it felt more comfortable, the tone was much more straight forward as I didn't have to tweak through loads of knobs etc. Like I said, I will happily stick to my Sire, I just wanted to reach out for opinions.

In the end, we are all just a bunch of opinions on a messageboard: If you tried the Sandberg and really love it, and if it is calling out to you then - by all means - do whats rights for you and get it.

I don't try to push the Sire Kool-Aid: My V7 is, in many ways, my "Holy Grail" bass (with hopes that the M7 I just ordered will match or exceed that) - its possible that Sandberg may be yours: No two bass players are wired identical

It's very well built for the price and comparing it with my other 5ers - fender JB S1 switch, warwick LX5, BassCollection JZ series - it is a serious contender!

Anyone know the size (thread) of the intonation screw on V7s? I did a change of strings last night on my V75 and it needed intonation adjustment on the D string, and the screw head broke. I swapped the screw off of my V74, but I'm still out a screw... Mickey will get back to me on if he has a replacement screw - but in the mean time I might be able to just buy one somewhere if I know it's thread size.

Did you loosen the string first before adjusting? Be sure to do that or you could, well you know, break a screw head.
