Sire Basses.

They are great basses for sure. I have sold mine as I prefer my StingRay Special. But for the money Sire really makes good stuff. The neck feels great and the only minor thing that I didn’t like was the hardware and the plastics felt cheap but those are easy fixes. By cheap I just mean the feel of them. But they work just fine in my experience.

My Sire V7 is my go-to Bass when I want a very versatile four string. Mine is a 1st generation and I couldn’t be happier with it. All hardware is original, I’ve only changed strings and 9v batteries.
I played at a fellow musician’s wedding and prior to the wedding day sent him 3 recordings of the special song he would sing to his new bride, Annie’s Song. Each recording featured a different bass. I sent the recordings blind and asked him to listen and choose the one with the bass tone he preferred. He picked the one with the Sire V7.

I have a V7 Vintage 5st. Have to say I'm impressed for the money.
It is a bit agricultural in some respects but the tone is there as is the 'booty' as MM would say.
I like the 70's position and maple neck.
The pre and pickups are very useful.

Not gigged as yet but in rehearsal, the sound cuts, which I put down to the maple neck.
It beats out my CS in that respect, which has a ferro board, and even on that Bass, I swapped out the pre, machines and bridge. What price is a CS?

On the V7, I don't like the bridge or machines and I don't think there are drop-in replacements as yet
I don't dislike the hardware that much to re-drill stuff to fit.

But at that price point, there must be corners cut and they are acceptable, imv.
You need to spend a lot of money to be appreciably better, I reckon

i picked one up at my local GC to try out. Was a new P7 i believe. It was disappointing, even for GC, but I put the burden on them. Really sharp fret ends and a crack in the fretboard.. Neck felt good otherwise, rolled edges are nice. Electronics seemed a bit off , but i don't know much about them. If I needed a second bass, Id be interested in a used jazz version of one.
