Sire vs Fender?

Him playing a Sire on stage, marketing.
False statement, he plays Sires live on stage as much as his old 70s Fender, if not more. Just check out the live clips on Youtube...

I'll just add Sire won't put Fender out of business. But neither will Fender put Sire out of business. They're here to stay. Deal with it.

Sire is a gnat buzzing in Fender's ear, no more...
Oh you think it was Fender's "good will towards customers" that caused them to make substantial investments to up their game? Fender feels it way more than a gnat. Maybe a deer fly biting the back of the head - they're pretty damned annoying! hehe (I hate deer flies!)

Dear Sire:
1) Get a better logo. We don't want a "Default Font" logo in big shiny letters.
2) Do something about those ridiculously tall stacked knobs. They look dumb.
Dear Sire: Please ignore @skycruiser and keep doing what you're doing. :p

You go ahead and buy that, I don't.

Marcus switching from Fender was a calculated business move to yield Marcus more money, same as his switch to Dunlop. If you want to believe it as some altruistic move to save customers money, go ahead.

You have the right to believe whatever and whoever you want, including yourself

I believe Marcus Miller. I believe Grammy winner Nelson Rios. He has no vested interest. He is just someone I met through a mutual friend. But they are both incredible bass players.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you have never played a Sire bass. I've played both.

Bang for the buck, it is no contest.

There's 2 currently on sale here in ABQ on CL. I've never seen or held a Sire in person. They are both jazzes, one V5 and V9 5S. Too many basses already but may check them out. I am putting together a Geddy Lee body with an ebony fb fretless precision neck
Worth checking out even if you're not buying, just good to keep up with things sometimes. ;)

Fender rests on its laurels and fame. They expect their clients to pay at least double to have that decal on the headstock.

The first bass I ever played was a 1972 Fender Jazz in the high school jazz band. It was awesome. I had no idea.

If you have a well made Fender, I'm sure it serves you well. If you are buying a bass today, you may want to try a Sire before you part with your hard earned cash.
You can even assemble a Warmoth Jazz for less money than the cheapest American Fender Jazz and wind up with a killer instrument.

You said the MIM Fender was nice. Go for it. They make the MIM's even better now. I have one. It's a beautiful Bass. Wait. I have two now. I got one back yesterday that I left at an old Band's rehearsal space. It's still great, after not seeing it for 15 years. It's an old Mexican Standard from 1999.
Not to derail, but I had a 2000 Mexican Standard Precision that was outstanding. Great pickups.

As the former owner of 8 Fender P basses over many years Iam more than qualified to say that statement. Meanwhile my el cheapo Squire CV70 is tangibly better than most of them. And Iam genuinely sorry if that upsets some people. But I've been there, got all the T shirts and will never go back.

I have a Squier Vintage Modified fretless jazz I bought for $189 off Reverb that blows me away every time I pick it up. It has Duncan Designed hum canceling pick ups. Classic fretless jazz tone.

I guess that gnat in the car is causing Fender to coerce retailers to take stock and not other manufacturers product.... Good honest business practice...
Mmmmmm...
Boy, that sure is a class act, make crap and then force retailers sell that crap, just because the name has historical standing in the modern music business...
Sounds like integrity to me, which I'm sure is passed on in the instruments... That s easier/cheaper to do than quality control
yup, I'm gonna buy me one of them Fenderrrrrs, so I can string it up and go turkey hunting, that's the bird that's in season, not the customer getting played by the company!
