Sire warranty issue

Not much to tell, they sent me an email that said they would prefer to have a servicer do the work and I responded by telling them that I would prefer to do it myself. They responded saying that the neck would be shipped within 48 hours.
IMHO few would offer to replace a neck if they were not confident of their ability to do so correctly. Nice to here that logic prevailed here.

Who all has had to deal with Sire on a warranty issue? I have been trading emails with them for a week with them finally telling me last night that I should take it to a shop of my choice and they will pay for the repairs.

The issue is that the neck has a twist in it. So, I would have liked for them to just give me a new neck, I can handle the replacement no problem. I understand why they may not want to do this, but the closest repair shop that I feel comfortable with is almost 90 miles away.

This repair is going to cost them at least double what sending me a neck would cost and no, I am not including my time and gas in that. Again, I understand why they don't want to do this. Has anyone else had a situation like this?

That probably has to do with the shipping and the cost of the neck to get it over here from Indonesia or China. Because the American factories check it over and approve the instrument and make small improvements, I don't think they make necks here. Every guitar company I've emailed does not make replacement necks except for Fender... For now.

I will ignore the fact that this is a zombie thread. I have no idea what the cost of shipping has to do with anything. They have warranty obligations, if they don't want to replace necks, then they have to replace the entire bass. Of course they don't make necks in the US, i have no idea why you even bring this up.

So if no guitar companies make replacement necks, how do they handle warranty? You are confusing the sale of necks with warranty replacements.

Oh, I absolutely agree that they should fulfill any obligations they have for the warranty... Trust me! I feel ya! All I was saying is it probably costs them too much to receive a neck from whatever country the guitar was made. And that doesn't matter they should take into consideration that they will have to replace a neck, I don't know why they don't or care. I know it's a zombified post, sorry. If they would make guitars in America they might be able to replace a neck without an import charge. Did you get the problem fixed?

Also, you should read the thread before commenting, this issue was resolved 6 months ago, they sent me a neck.
