What gauge of string would be best for funk sorta stuff like jamiroqaui or rhcp

How bright of a sound do you want?

Personally I like a light gauge string and stainless steels... 35-95 for a 4 string...

Stainless Steel if you want a really bright string, Nickel plated steel if you want a little less of an edgy aggressive sound.

I like the feel of Hex core strings for slap/pop. They are a little more responsive / quick.

Jimbo there has the right idea, but might I suggest Flea signature boomer strings? I use them and love them.

I agree with using whatever string you currently like. I've used hex core and round core strings, they both work good. I've even used flats for slapping although I don't think they'd get the tone you're after. I usually get heavier gauge strings but that's my personal preferance. If you want a different tone then what you are currently getting let us know what strings you currently use and what you'd like different about them.

Yeah boomers are good if you're an aggressive player but check your saddles because I know flea sig runs .45 - .105 so a little heavier (which I prefer... Thicker callous Woot! ) but if you're a softy, Ernie ball is perfect for price and that bright pop with some thickness

Try dr lo-riders! Full bottom end & nice high clarity.

DR Lo-Riders (as Cfcturtle said; Full bottom end and nice high clarity.) But Lo-Riders are stiffer, but work great if you are looking to also use harmonics/tapping.
