Slapping my Corvette

Hey guys,

i just bought a warwick corvette std 4-string at guitar center about a month ago and i am really loving it. However there is one thing that is bothering me. i use the victor wooten thumb picking technique however i find it hard to execute on this bass. See on my old fender jazz i would strike down and through the string and my thumb would land on the fretboard (body) of the bass then i would pull back up through the string, but the distance from the strings to the body of the bass is much deeper on the warwick so what i have been doing is following through and landing on the fretboard just above the 24th fret i have to hit about a 2 inch spot or else i miss it. Have you guys found a better way to do this. thanks

I have problems going from my Fender Jazz V to my Corvette 5, also. I can't set them up the same way. I play mostly on the bridge pickup, but sometimes I want to play over the neck pickup to get that really aggressive, hard, dig in, bounce off the frets, Flea-Suck My Kiss tone and I can't do it on my Corvette. I guess that's why I've kept the Fender. Not the same problem as yours, but they might be caused by the same thing.
