Slide bass?

I use a slide on bass sometimes for solos or melodies.
Of course we also have Mark Sandman from Morphine. He is the man!

I was at the right time and place to see Morphine about a dozen times. They were everything everyone says. Phenomenal band!
after watching the video of his practice, hard work, and schooling...he has become one of my favorite "influencer" bassists. This guy has done the work to be great. He was in multiple various-genre bands playing every free night live (mostly small, which those that have done it know the grind).

Yes saw them live many times too. Great live band!!! Drummer is amazing too.
Back when "End of the Innocence" was a new song by Don Henley in 1989 and my party band started playing it in the early '90's, I used a slide since I didn't have a fretless bass at the time. I still don't have a fretless bass, and now I just play the bass line conventionally on a fretted bass being as legato with my technique as possible. The slide got to be one more distraction to have to pack and carry instead of an aid to the interpretation of the song.
One ought mention John Paul Jones in any discussion about slide bass, they are all about on his records Zooma and Thunderthief.

This guy is a beast. Absolute beast. I believe I read that he started as a pianist and felt he could not be as expressive as he wanted...switched to bass...and adopted the crazy tapping skills.
I don't know his name but the bass player from The Record Company plays a slide on this song 'Off The Ground'
This band The Record Company got this tune with a nice slide bass hook on dad-rock radio (i.e. WXRT in Chicago) a few years ago
That’s sounds very inspired by Morphine, even the vocal lines and the drums, but then more commercial and much less original.
