slight neck dive on a Sadowsky: uncommon?

Some experience neck dive when sitting because they play without a strap and with the bass on the right leg.

Try classical position with a strap.
If you sit with it between your legs,it is propped between both legs and against your chest.
And no dive is realized.
Even with no strap.

Or you could do this!

The guy's look is weird in the video, but he's got a good idea there.

Oh, Geena-Davis: the OP mentioning strap vs. seated playing forever muddied the waters on this one...
@dmas81:
do you experience neck dive when sitting, with a strap or both?
[Forumites: it would be useful if you answered to the most recent thread resurrection, rather than to the opening poster..]

Anyway, my opinion is this is the most ingenious solution (no replacing components, no drilling, no added weight, no wedgies):
NBD and a brand new novel way to fix neck dive with no mods.

24 frets would have less dive in theory. The longer neck pocket places the neck deeper into the body's center of gravity, assuming identical bridge locations.

Actually I would counter that. The 24 fret's have a condensed body length, therefore putting the horn further back and the scoop where the body rests on your knee further away from the center of gravity. Not all bass manufacturers do this but Sadowsky does. Look at the body of his 24 fret versus the 21 fret. The 21 fret body is longer from left to right.

I did not know this.

My M24 dives on a strap juuust a touch, but it only weighs like 8lbs which for me offsets any dive. It's not as if I have to hold it up with my fretting hand while I play it (I'm looking at you, Warwick FNA).
