small amp, REALLY SMALL

Hammerhead and Mingo Sanders have the right idea. I had no idea EXH made one of these! This might actually be perfect.

I've decided i'm going to save money by using one of the 1976 CTS 15 inch speakers that came in my Ampeg 2x15. They sounded utterly amazing at low volume with my (or should I say my brothers) Fender Frontman when I tested them out. They're sitting in the boxes that my Eminence Delta15s came in. I'll mount it in one of these:

So.. the EHX pedal is cool and all, and so far it's number 1 on my list, but if anyone knows of this mysterious blue stompbox that had a 12AX7 sticking out of it (i believe it had a chrome "rollbar" type thing that protected the tube), it would be appreciated. I remember seeing it somewhere around TB, I know I'm not crazy. I'm trying to keep the cost under $400. If anyone knows any cheaper (but as good looking) alternatives to the Lopoline cabinets, that'd be sick too.

Are you maybe thinking of the Zvex Nano amp? It looks really cool but it's not cheap: http://www.zvexamps.com/. Not sure how it would work for bass as opposed to guitar.

I just ordered one of the EHX things on a whim. Interested to see how it sounds with my VT Bass and/or DB924. Also curious whether it will drive an Accugroove Tri110L. I have a Lopo 1x10 cab loaded with a Weber alnico Blue Pup, which I think will work well with the EHX for guitar.

Interesting thread topic!

Any idea on how to find pricing on Ed's custom shop pico plexi? (I know I can email him..)

Those are some cool products! Expecially using the "Amp Pedal, you can hook up the Pico Plexi Head (but also amps like the Zvex Nano Head for instance) into it via the upper two jacks and have the input and output fed by the guitar into the amp respectively." Thinking about using my mojo tone guitar cab (low wattage) with this amp pedal essentially turning low wattage vintage tube amp into a preamp for real break-up tone!

For some years now, I have used a Korg Pandora PX4D "multi effects processor" as a high quality headphone practice amp and more. It was recommended in a published interview I read, as a superior headphone amp for bass, even if you don't use any of its other features. It holds models of a number of different amp heads and also speaker cabinets. Also has time effects, lots of delays, etc. Furthermore has a bunch of compression settings. Contains a whole bunch of presets and slots for you to save your own presets. Accepts an aux input from your ipod or other sound source for playing along with. Can digitally change pitch of that input too. It is something that actually sounds good through headphones, far better than the other headphone amp gizmos for bass. Costs about $149. Korg originally made a model of this specifically for bass, but now just makes one for guitar / bass. It does work very well. I lost my original bass version, had to buy the guitar version, so I know. I carry it in my gig bag all the time. Has a tuner in it too.

For practice, I use a small 5-channel mixer with my bass plugged into Ch.1 and the tape-out running to the line-in on my PC. So...I practice with my computer speakers, which sound really nice. It has an isobaric push/pull sub, so the bottom end is very...fat.
