Small battery powered amp for ABG ..

Yes it is a decent amp, especially if you play funk, it has a really good sound for that. Understand though, that the Pignose is heavy for a battery powered amp. Personally, I like being able to just throw the amp on my bike and just jam out at parks in Portland, which isn't very feasible with the Pignose (which would be of better use for actual street/market bands in my opinion). As for the Roland, I have had it sense July 2015 and haven't had to change the batteries once. It is very light weight and can easilly be attached to a gigbag to carry along with a bass. And though the Roland Micro Cube is technically a 'guitar' amp, I have never had any problems using it with bass. Like any 'guitar' amp, you just have to be smart about it so as not to blow the speaker.

As long as it's not like 30 lbs or so it should be okay. We'd always use a vehicle. I like that it could handle a street gig.

I use the Micro Cube daily and absolutely love it.

For 100% of my home practice I use this amp. I never plug in my Monique or use my Berg cabs at home. The Roland sounds great on most amp model settings, has a good tuner and the AUX IN feature is great. Chorus is amazing and the other effects are ok (octave, delay, etc.).

It is a good amp for acoustic gigs/jams while running on batteries, but anything beyond a couple of quiet acoustic guitars would likely be too much. I would LOVE to see a 20-30W version of this amp, but I can only imagine the battery consumption.

Trade offs IMO are.... Price (the Microcube definately isn't $99), portability (Microcube is small and pretty light), features (tons on the Microcube), power/output (Microcube isn't winning this fight against the Pignose or most others) and tone (most of these smaller amps just sound OK and I think the Microcube is a bit better than average).

There would be a guy with a few handheld percussion things, another with a telecaster and a battery amp, an acoustic, and sometimes a banjo. Those are the guys I know are up for playing away from the usual practice space. I hope to find some more guys later on as well. The micro cube sounds like it may be too quite. But I like the options it has.

Yup. Amazing amp. Just not enough power IMO.

Try one out at a GC on a Saturday afternoon with all of the wannabe Randy Rhodes wailing out...that will give you an idea if it is loud enough.:D

They do make a bass cube too. Actually a couple of different ones, and they're around alot used.
