small flat wrench sets.

I need to tighten a volume pot on my Traben, its loose and wiggleing around. Underneath the knob but still on top of the bass is a washer and above that right underneath the bottom of the knob is a nut.

Well I need a flat wrench to fit in there and get to the nut to tighten it. Probably between 16 gauge to 20 gauge width steel.
But I have no idea where to find something like this.

Would a local hardware store carry a wrench like this? Or would a menards or home depot carry it, or even more a guitar shop be a better bet?

Any ideas guys? Thanks for the help.

Love to know, as well. Thanks! I've been using a flat head jewler's screwdriver to push the nut to tighten, but this is far from an optimal approach for any number of reasons.

I see that your from MN, I am too, is there anywhere you know that sells that in a store, I'm in a pinch right now and can't wait for something to get shipped, that thing would probably work though.

I have never messed with a knob, explain how to remove knob? Only way I can see it to move nut to remove knob but can't get to nut. I don't wanna bust anything or scratch up my bass.

Look for a set-screw holding the knob in place ... little screw, goes in from the side. If there is a set-screw, loosen it.

If there is no set-screw, simply pull the knob straight off.

No I do not know of any place that has one, I just ordered one and have not received it yet. It should be soon.

Sometimes the knobs will not come off. My 85 Ric has a loose pot & two of the knobs will not come off with out braking them. They are the originals and I would rather leave them on the bass. If I replaced two of them it would look odd & I do not want to do all four because it would be noticeable.

The one side of that wrench looks like it is just the ticket for tightening the little knurled nuts on switches without messing them up with a pliers & scratching the paint..

I got my multi hex wrench tools at Sears, A metric and non metric one. Each has around 10 fold out wrenches of different sizes. And Ive kept allmost all the included single wrenches that came with guitars and basses Ive gotten of diff sizes too.

Well I looked up a how to on the net, and after reading felt like a dork, yes mine have no screws so they simply pull off. But having never had to do such a thing after 4 years of playing I now know they just pull off.

I just used a jar opening rubber cloth thing to get some grip and they pulled off with a little cursing. But now I know, and like GI Joe, knowing is half the battle.

Thanks guys for the help, I'll also check sears for some wrench sets just in case I ever need one.
