Double Bass Small preamps

I need a small preamp to use with an old homemade wing piezo with a short cable. I previously used a tiny K&K pre, but I figure something with balanced out would be nice to avoid needing a DI box on top of it. K&K Pure Preamp with XLR would be an obvious choice, Headway EDM-1 also looks like it'll work. What else should I consider?

And I probably haven't posted on the DB side in years, heh.

I have had good luck with the original Headway EDM1 but it is not a DI (unless you are not using an amp. Then you need an adaptor to go to the PA). Small, light, phantom power, HPF, selectable impedance, battery powered. No phase switch though. You can find them used for a good price.

Red-Eye preamps are nice and small and can run off of battery, phantom power, or adapter.

A Redeye Single will do the trick provided the pickup your using is high gain like the Realist, Full Circle, Yamahiko, Planet Wing, Bass Max, et.al.Other pickups like the Ehrlund really benefit from the additional Volume controls on the Redeye Twin.
