Received this pedal today and played with it for around 30 minutes, so those are my first impressions. First of all, this pedal is totally different from the other filters that I played before: Q-tron, MXR Auto-Q, Moog. It doesnt have that much of the effect, its more like blended with the dry sound. I would say on some settings you may not notice it in the mix until the pedal is turned off. So for someone who likes Bootsy, this pedal could be a disappointment, BUT it is cool in its own way. I would say this pedal could be a secret weapon, it makes sound bigger, sort of like when you are trying to repeat some bass line from the record, but it doesnt sound exactly the same because of the sound its own, though you transcribed every note. I have some pedals that I like to play with on my own, but I can hardly use them together with the band, this pedal, I can see where I will use it from the start. TF Analogue Filter in my opinion is good for acid jazz bass lines, where you dont need to play many notes, but you want to have them fundamental and groovy. So overall I think this pedal is a good investment and is good to have, though if you looking for something that sounds close to Mu-tron better check something else. P.S. The Real Funk comes when you switch it together with MXR Auto Q.
I bought mine back in February during the short span it was offered as the Bass 442. It is the only pedal on my board I have never wanted to replace. It is just to musical and awesome. It fits perfectly in a band setting and is great for just adding some subtle funk to your lines. Driving it with a distortion or fuzz pedal is also lots of fun.
I tried to run my only fuzz - Frazz Dazzler in front of it, but didn't like it so far, maybe I have to try it with some other od/fuzz pedal
That`s strange, its played nice with any dirt pedal I have tried so far. I just turn the range close to max and keep the level near 12 for some nice synthy sounds.
I'm using the filter with a Tonefactor Huckleberry. It's really great and gets some great synthy sounds. CallMeBlind, are you using the fuzz before the filter in the chain, you'll probably get better results doing that (if you're not already).
Yes sure, before the filter. Maybe I just need to try different settings on the filter, I'm still not so familiar with it.
