I used to own a fender Pro Jr, it was as loud as my peavey minx bass amp and had that all tube goodness. Bonus points for being a combo. I think it has a 10" or 8" speaker.

I'd be quite happy with a copy of an ampeg B15 head, 25 watts, but I don't have a clue where to get one!

There's always a couple B-15's on Ebay. Check your local Craigslist, too. They show up from time to time.

That's not a bad idea, either. Very lightweight, 6v6 power tube, tube rectified. You could upgrade the speaker in that, too, those have 12 inch speakers.

you're thinking of a deluxe. a band master was a head, ss rectification and 2x6l6's. the deluxe was 22 watts and the bandmaster was about 35-40.

I am scouting for a small all-tube amp. definitely not more than 50wrms.
Anybody know of such a beast. Hopefully something lighter than 20lbs. for sure.
I completely buy into the lightweight cabinet idea, now I'm looking for a lightweight all tube amp to go along that will still give great sound

others have said it, but tube amps are heavy. they have to have a lot of iron to power them. but there are all sorts of options out there that are under 50watts. how much are you looking to spend and what do you want it for? i'm guessing that under 50watts you're talking about around the house playing. that sorta stuff helps in suggesting an amp.

I've got the pignose b100v combo amp w/one 15". It's my main gigging amp, sounds great. The EQ controls are not very useable (sounds like only about +/- 3db of boost/cut for each band) but the tone by itself is nice.

I also have a 70's silverface Fender Princeton that I use a lot for recording, that has the creamiest perfect tone. It is only about 15 watts and would be a good candidate for your bass speaker mod. Mine just has whatever it was loaded with back in the 70's so it doesn't handle loud and low together. I've used it on gigs though when I played bass VI baritone style.

I owned both the head and the combo. The eq effectiveness is directly linked to the driver. Try unplugging the internal driver and hook up another 15 cabinet. It can do more.
