small venue/packed house vs medium venue/room for more

hey fellas,

curious about how you've approached this kind of choice

a) small venue (125 capacity), small stage, great sound crew, great bartender, full house

b)medium-sized venue (app. 220 capacity), large stage, same sound crew, same bartender, better sound reinforcement, liklihood of under-capacity crowds

once i learned that the sound crew and bartender could schedule themselves at the larger side of the venue, i leaned toward that route, but i can see why our frontman likes the full house

what did you guys choose?

always go with the packed house. If people can't get in you're creating a larger audience for yourself. You'll move to the bigger room in time and pack it because of the buzz you've created.

The guy at the small venue will book you back regularly - maybe for more money. The guy at the big venue is going to give you a hard time, or at least think twice...

A good gig is one where you get invited back.
