Smaller Cab with 810 tone?

I am looking for a smaller cab that has similar tonal quantities to the 810svt. I play a 96 svt810 at shows, but our practice space is in a basement, and i would like a cab to leave downstairs. Also, we are going to be recording live in the studio in a few months, and im afraid the 810 might be a little uncontrollable in the room.

How loud are you? A Ampeg Micro 210 might do the trick. Johnk said that his 215 that he built has some 810 qualities when he plugged his ports.

Also, what's your budget?

My first thought was a Bergantino 6x10, but it might be out of your price range. Next thought was an Ampeg 410HE, because they are sealed like an 8x10.

How small? SWR Henry the 8x8 might do the trick. It is significantly smaller and weights about half of what the Classic Ampeg 8x10 does.

Im sorry, i wasnt real specific. Im looking for something significantly smaller than the 810 for practice, not to replace it. Do the ampeg 210s sound like 810s? Other than volume of course.

Be aware that the 410HE is an 8ohm cab... Since you're not pushing much volume, it probably won't matter. I use a 410HLF onstage and a second one at home for practice and they are fantastic when pushed really hard or when lazily, quietly, playing around. Just my two cents, and that may be all it's worth.

410HE. Sealed back, like the 810. It's basically half your 810.

As info, I've used a 410HE and it DOES sound very good... I prefer the HLF tone and color at louder volume, but for your situation, the HE could be a great choice. They're typically 20% less than the HLF cab, too. (BTW, I needed to post something else, I have not been on in awhile and didn't realize my signature line wasn't up to date in my first post!)

If you're micing a cabinet in the studio, an SVT-210AV should do the trick. I think they do a pretty good job of capturing the tone of a '90s 8x10.
