Smallest amp actually gigged with-your stories?

Another poor Micro Bass user here.

Lent one to my juniors to play in a auditorium, 800 seater, no PA support. Needless to say the bassist couldn't be heard at all. But that was ok, none of the musicians could (only PA support for singer, tiny amps on stage)

FYI the Microbass is a 1x8 combo with an amplifer section, that to the best of my knowledge, either consumes, or puts out, 20W of power.

A few years back, played the Whiskey in HWood and both guitarists and I used vintage Pignose amps (the little ones).

Of course they were mic'd through the pa, and honestly it was fun and sounded decent enough. We had spotlights on each amp. I wish that i had pictures.

Smallest I'll use now is my ampeg b100r.

^I think we're talking about the same thing, but not sure.
I've played probably about 2 dozen gigs on one a lot like this and I was always surprised with how good it sounded (and that's when I was in an 8-piece band, competing with 2 guitars and a horn section).

The one I used was a little bit older and looked slightly different than the one pictured, but I think it's basically the same thing.
Although, to be fair, I never played any really big venues with it. But still, considering it's size, it's a freakin trooper.

I have a little Carvin 100W 1x10 combo that I played at my mother-in-laws church (solo) and at a benefit in a decent sized restaurant. It worked ok for both settings, but it wasn't great.

To get any kind of volume out of that thing the volume has to be at 11. That makes it so farty and blatty that I have to have the onboard compressor turned all the way up.

It works in a pinch and the best part is that it weighs about 25 pounds.

I have played gigs with a peavey microbass amp.

I played to 120k people with my GK MB150 combo (going thru the PA) 2 weeks ago. My band complained that they could not hear me enough (the monitors were inadiquate) so tonight we are opening the whole earth festival at UCDavis and I busted out the big guns; my GK RB400 thru a 2x10"

I will be using the GK MB-150 as a stand alone amp Saturday night at a jazz-dinner gig.

The smaller the better.

Fender Bassman 25 combo, with a single 10" speaker. This was for an afternoon dock bar gig, jazzy/bluesy quartet playing originals and covers. I got a little bit of PA support. The Fender performed well enough... and that was fine, I was subbing so I didn't want to drown everyone out as usual. :ninja: (J/K!)

And yet another micro bass veteran here. Pit band, local community theaters, audience size <= 120, no PA support.

It actually worked out pretty well for several years: we targeted a pit "chamber orchestra" sound, so volume was not much of an issue; and I considered the little amp disposable (please don't tell it that, though), so I had no qualms about leaving it in the pit throughout show runs.

I still have that micro bass. It won't compete with its grander siblings around the house, but it's still a keeper, for those special circumstances. I like it! ;)

I used to gig regularly with a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T combo. 175 watts, 10" driver, 18 pounds...great little amp. I now have a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0-12T combo as I wanted just a little more bottom. Still a very portable and great sounding amp.

I also have used this little amp about the last 4 or 5 times I have played out somewhere. Pretty impressive little unit.
