Short version: What do you like to listen to?

Long Version: So, I am back in school and end up staying up until very late doing homework. (Just finished at about 1:40am EST.) I like to listen to smooth jazz while I work. I can tune in and out of the music and get right back to work like throwing a switch. I have always liked Yellow Jackets stuff (especially Like a River and Blue Hats CD's). Most of the other stuff I like is in that vein. So, what kind of stuff in that general category do you like?

P.S. I have tried a couple of online radio stations and the commercials drive me nuts. I would rather just shuffle a category on my computer or throw in a CD.

Thanks!

Not Smooth jazz, per se...but Manu Katche's Neighbourhood

or Playground

These may fit your needs. Actually, some of these ECM/Katche albums sound a bit like The Yellowjackets Blue Hats-era.
FWIW, I do not consider The Yellowjackets to be Smooth Jazz. At one time. they were maybe a Jazz Fusion-Funk band (the earlier stuff with Ricky Lawson/Robben Ford/Marc Russo)...Mintzer & Will Kennedy took them somewhere else...and it was not smoothsville.

Agree with JimK - I do not consider the 'Jackets smooth. Recently, I've been seriously digging the Damian Erskine station on Pandora. Just killer, killer stuff.
