Snark tuners - battery source

If anyone lives near a Tractor Supply, stop in. In the bargain section, my store had a 50 pack of button batteries for $8.99. Ten of them were CR2032s, which the Snark tuners use. There were also a bunch of other common batteries in there, including CR2016. It's a great price.

I've had issue with the super cheap button batteries (at least from Amazon).
They die super fast in my vernier caliper.
The reviews on Amazon seem reasonably good.

Tractor Supply has a reputation of carrying quality products - not exactly a Harbor Freight situation. But I will update if these aren't good.

The package says distributed by Tractor Supply, so it looks like they were specially purchased - not like they just ordered a few crates. Yeah, they were made in China, but I imagine 99.7% of all button batteries are made there.

Every problem I have heard about relating to Snarks and batteries seems to have been related to using off brand batteries in them. I have been using Energizers in mine for several years now. They last a LONG time and I have never had any kind of failure using them. Haven't even tried anything else in them so I wouldn't have any info about any other types. They might be fine , but I know what works well in mine and have no reason to try anything else.

CR2032's can be had pretty cheaply on Amazon... However, about Snark tuners. I suppose they're close enough for bass, but of all the tuners I own for guitar they are the least accurate.

You probably bought regular Alkaline batteries versus Silver Oxide batteries for your vernier calipers.
Smaller button batteries comes in two flavors Alkaline and Silver Oxide. Silver Oxide batteries last waaaay longer (and are more expensive) than alkaline batteries.
I'm not a batter expert, but I think:
Alkaline batteries you will see: LR44 303 357
Silver Oxide batteries are labeled: 357/303

Apparently the LR44's are the same size and voltage as the 357/303, so they fit, and the voltage is correct.

I found this out the hard way. Every time I picked up my vernier calipers, I had to put a new battery in it.

You are right! I've been using LR44 since before they had silver oxide and assumed that new ones were the good stuff. My mistake.
