So I found this EQ mixer in the garbage...

I was walking home from the bar one night and stumbled upon this graphic eq ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]). It was sitting on a pile, in great shape, not a scratch on it. Brought it home and tested it out, and it works! I set it up to my record player so I have:

phonograph->EQ->JVC stereo

Here's the thing, if you look at the picture, there are two independent channels, I hook up to either with (verified) stereo XLR cables (I also tried with 1/4" cables) and I'm only getting music from one speaker of the stereo. AM I missing something or is this likely the reason the thing was in the trash to begin with? I just find it weird that both channels only put out the Left speaker. I thought it might just be a mono/stereo flub, but the cables are indeed stereo. Any thoughts?

XLR is not stereo!

it's "balanced", with pins 2 and 3 opposite polarity from each other for hum-canceling and increased signal strength once polarity-flipped and recombined, but it's still just one side of the music.

Solved the problem. I got some stereo XLR cables and it works properly now! Thanks for the info, Walter!
